ISFiT 2023

The International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT) is the world's largest thematic student festival and has been held every other year since 1990. The festival is created by more than 400 students in Trondheim and brings together 500 students from over 100 countries. Its mission is to create dialogue and friendship across cultural boundaries in a festival consisting of debates, workshops and cultural performances. Each festival has a theme that becomes the starting point for debates, cultural events, workshops and everything else that happens during ISFiT.

The next festival will be in February 2023 with the theme “Polarization”. With this theme the international student festival in Trondheim seeks to explore different aspects and challenges related to polarization. Many would probably argue that with the spread of social media polarization is at an all-time high. We are isolated in our own echo chambers and the distance between us is growing. But polarization is more than just politics: It is also economic polarization in the form of growing inequality, and it is polarization related to our identity. The goal of this theme is for students, from the whole world, to reflect on their contribution to polarization and the implications of it. How can we see past our differences? How can we build bridges with our neighbors? Polarization is shaking the very foundation of our democracy – therefore we must discuss it!
