Agnes feels like the loneliest girl in the world. For her sixteenth birthday, she wishes for only three things: to escape the party, for Elin to notice her, and for Elin to feel the same way in return. Elin, on the other hand, is tired of the small town, the boredom, and the boys she’s dated. In Åmål, rumors spread quickly, and it takes great courage to stand up for who you really are. Fucking Åmål is a powerful portrayal of teenage confusion, longing, and the courage to be different in an environment where conformity is the norm.
