Student championship in Rock Paper Scissors
The big highlight of the year is approaching. Do you have what it takes to be crowned student champion in rock, paper, scissors?
SSP is played with the hands. As is well known, it is played in two branches, as in the official Norwegian SSP championship.
A main tournament and a street tournament. The winner of each tournament walks away with 500kr in cash.
Rock: Symbolized by a clenched fist with the thumb resting at least at the same height as the top finger of the hand.
The thumb must not be hidden by the fingers.
Note: To accommodate different playing styles, it is considered permissible to have the first joint of the thumb pointing downwards.
Scissors: Delivered in the same way as Rock, except that the index and middle fingers are fully extended in the direction of the opponent.
It is considered good practice to have the top finger pointing upwards and the bottom finger pointing downwards, to create an angle of approximately 30-45 degrees between the two fingers, thus imitating a folded pair of scissors.
Paper: Also delivered in the same manner as stone, except that all fingers, including the thumb, are fully extended and horizontal, with the fingertips pointing in the direction of the opponent. The use of “vertical paper” (also known as a “handshake”) is considered exceptionally bad practice.
