Studentersamfundet Film Club

Studentersamfundet Filmklubb (SSF) is Norway's largest film club and is run by the Culture Committee at the Studentersamfundet in Trondhjem. Each semester we serve a broad programme, from old classics to newer gems.

Fancy a movie? Every Sunday and Tuesday, the Studentersamfundet Filmklubb has put together a varied program with everything from Bijou and Documentary Films to Moviesundays and Planetarium screenings – something for every taste! With around 20 film screenings each semester. It should be said that special screenings, the first film screening of the semester, are always free!

Moviesunday

Moviesundays represent the main program at SSF, and shows a good mix of feature films from different eras and genres. Our main focus is on showing quality films, but also want them to be good and engaging films that should be accessible to everyone. Sunday films are shown every Sunday at 7 pm in Storsalen (the Great Hall) at Samfundet. In addition to reasonable prices, we can tempt with the opportunity to buy and take something good to drink or eat from Samfundet's café Edgar. Take the trip and round off the weekend and week with a good film at Samfundet!

Bijou

In addition to Moviesundays, SSF shows films that are a little narrower and less well-known treats from film history that go a little outside the main program of the Studentersamfundet Filmklubb. Bijou means jewel in French, and therefore hidden gems are shown that are often poetic and a little more innovative. This is a good offer for those of you who want to take a deep dive into the world of cinematography, or who are just curious about something new and different. The Bijou and documentary films are shown regularly every Tuesday.

Thematic screenings

Valentine's Day, Women's Day or Halloween, want to really get into the mood? SSF also show theme-related films, such as a romantic Valentine's film, a scary Halloween film, and during Women's Week a film about patriarchy and a portrait of the life of a housewife was shown. This is a great way to just lean back in your chair and really get into the mood with a good movie.

Planetarium screenings

This is no ordinary screening, but also an experience! SSF always has two planetarium screenings per semester where we show visual films on the roof of the main hall - and people can relax on mattresses while watching the film!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Every year, SSF puts on this cult classic. The members of the cultural committee present themselves as amateur actors and perform the film's hot action in front of a packed Storsal. An annual celebration of extraterrestrial transvestites in a fusion of film and performance is the highlight of spring.

Priser

The tickets cost NOK 40 per film, and require membership of the Studentersamfundet Filmklubb (SSF) or another film club under the Norwegian Film Club Association (NFK). If you do not have a membership, you can buy this for NOK 100, with the first viewing included in the purchase. This membership also gives discounted prices at Cinemateket and other clubs associated with NFK.
In addition to ordinary membership, we also offer super membership for NOK 200, which gives you free entry to all SSF's screenings during the semester (note: only valid in Studentersamfundet Filmklubb). For members who are affiliated with an NFK film club from before, super membership at Studentersamfundet Filmklubb can be purchased for NOK 100.

New semester membership (including first screening): 100kr
New Super membership: 200kr (gives access to all films in the semester – that's only 9.09kr per film!)
