ISFiT presents: A Talk with Peace Prize Laureates

In this meeting we will get to know two partners in peace: the Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 2003 Dr. Shirin Ebadi (IR) and the Student Peace Prize laureate of 2015 Aayat Alqormozi (BH).

Watch their conversation on the road to peace: How do we achieve equal rights? Why should we achieve equal rights? Which road should we take and which road are we actually taking? Get their answers at Studentersamfundet in Trondhjem.

The Speakers:

Aayat Alqormozi was awarded the Student Peace Prize of 2015 for her struggle for democracy and human rights in Bahrain. Alqormozi (born in 1991) is seen as a symbol of resistance against repression in Bahrain. She uses poetry as method for expressing her views on the conditions in her country. In 2011, only 20 years old, she got arrested for reading a poem about the Royal family and situation in Bahrain. Despite her time in prison, Al-Qurmezi has continued her work for equality - regarding both women and Shia versus Sunni Muslims.

Dr. Shirin Ebadi is an Iranian lawyer, former judge and human rights activist. In 2003, Dr. Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her significant and pioneering efforts for democracy and human rights - especially women's, children's and refugee rights. She was the first Iranian to ever receive the prize, and the first muslim woman in the history of the world. In 2004, she was listed as one of the "100 most powerful women in the world" (Forbes Magazine) and have been mentioned as one of the most influential women of all time.
