Runther // Knaus

His music-making philosophy is not only to paint fascinating sound palettes but also to take an unique approach to exploring the odd glitches and errors he stumbles across – which also explains his artist name; Runther was created accidentally when a friend mixed up his first and last name.

While working as a clinical psychologist in Northern Norway, Runther’s musical style has developed with a major influence from the city’s underground scene. In addition to creating music, he also organizes raves. Runther recalls:

One of my greatest moments was organizing a rave together with some of my friends at the top of "Fjellheisen", a mountain in Tromsø with a spectacular view of both the northern lights and the city of Tromsø. I was also lucky enough to be invited by Eivind Fauchald and the folks of Husbraak to perform all night in Vengsøy. This was the type of event you only could dream to experience, under the sunset at the most beautiful beach.

Runther has gathered praise playing renowned festivals like Insomnia, Sommarøya and LightsOut festival alongside artists like Röyksopp, Biosphere, Omar S, ANNA, Nadia and DJ Koze. Runther started his own record label RunTheRave in 2019, making a platform for himself and paving the way for other artists in the community.
