Søndagsfilm: En helt vanlig dag på jobben (2010)
"I've had some idea, more or less, of how this kind of journalism is carried out. But I’m still surprised by the film's depiction of the close ties between the magazine and celebrities, and just how far both parties go to fabricate sensations." – P3
En helt vanlig dag på jobben is a tragicomic story that portrays a friendship formed under absurd circumstances. At the same time, it’s one of the wildest tales we’ve heard about modern Norwegian media. The film is directed by Terje Ragnenes, based on a script by Erlend Loe. The screenplay is adapted from Håvard Melnæs' book, where he describes his time as a journalist at Se & Hør.
In the film, we follow Håvard Melnæs as he works at Se & Hør, where he’s introduced to some rather unconventional methods. The checkbook is heavily used to persuade celebrities to reveal their private lives, and whether everything is true doesn’t seem to matter much. Melnæs’ career takes a downward turn, but things shift when Mette-Marit is about to take on the role of Crown Princess. Melnæs stumbles upon Mette-Marit’s father, Sven O. Høiby, who turns out to be a valuable asset for Se & Hør.
