The myth of King Arthur is most likely familiar to most people. We follow the life of a man shaped by destiny, heroism, and magic. With fantastic set design and costumes, John Boorman portrays the legendary king’s entire life through a meticulously crafted cinematic epic. Excalibur has played a key role in defining the visual style of fantasy, and if you’ve ever seen “Dark Fantasy” AI edits on TikTok, this film is where much of their visual identity comes from. Excalibur may be difficult to follow at times, but the moment you see Merlin wield his magic, you are drawn in—leaving the theater with a true sense of wonder.
