Wold Wiggen // 23.59
Wold Wiggen, try to push the limits of what a modern "vise" can sound like, without losing touch with the tradition itself.
Erling Wold and Erlend Wiggen Bliksrud have been playing and writing songs together ever since they were placed in the same guitar group back in elementary school. In the fall of 2024, they released their debut album Wrangforestillinger, and this spring (2025) they followed up with the EP De fire neste. Both projects feature their own original songs in Norwegian, with the duo’s guitar playing and warm voices at the heart of both lush arrangements and more stripped-back soundscapes. With Wold Wiggen, the two try to push the limits of what a modern vise (Norwegian folk-inspired ballad) can sound like. without losing touch with the tradition itself. Their lyrics open small windows into their own lives, touching on the feelings and situations young people experience while living in Oslo.
In the past couple of years, they’ve played a number of concerts at different venues in the city, including Cosmopolite, Parkteateret, and Kampen Bistro. They’ve also been running the Hersleb Visekollektiv, where they’ve hosted monthly concert nights—performing themselves and inviting other young songwriters to share the stage—all in the spirit of keeping the vise tradition alive and well.
They’ve been to Trondheim before too, when they played at Antikvariatet during their summer tour in 2024. Now they’re really looking forward to returning to Samfunnet. They’ve been there before, but this time they’re not just here to drink beer—they’ll be bringing along their beautiful music for everyone who wants to listen.
