This groundbreaking 1931 film was one of the first to portray homosexuality so explicitly. This German film is about a sensitive girl who is sent to an all-girls boarding school and develops a romantic attachment to one of her teachers.
This film was revolutionary not only because of its early depiction of homosexuality, but also because it was directed by a woman and features only female actors.
