Ayka // 23.59

“[Ayka] shows a confident, self-produced expression. Laid-back, melodic, and very indie-movie indie — this is sharp guitar music that’s easy to love.” — GAFFA, 2025

Ayka is the pseudonym of the Norwegian-Turkish artist Ayça Lingaas.
At by:Larm 2022, she was among the 12 nominees for “Årets Stjerneskudd” (Newcomer of the Year) and was described as “an artist to watch” by Aftenposten. The same year, Ayka also performed at Vill Vill Vest in Bergen, receiving an enthusiastic response from both audiences and GAFFA.

Since 2023, she has been working on her debut album Doggy Bag and has opened for artists such as American Chris Cohen and Australian band Royel Otis.

The new record Doggy Bag was released on January 16 this year and represents stepping back, taking a breath, and allowing yourself a moment to reflect. With distinctive, off-kilter guitar playing, Ayka embraces a rougher, more jangly soundscape than before, and her lyrics are direct, unpretentious reflections of everything that is good and bad — preferably at the same time.

FFO: Wilco, The Velvet Underground, Stereolab.
