Helvete
Helvete is a short play based on Erlend Loe's novel of the same name. The play is about a newly divorced woman named Rakel who finds a hatch in her garden leading to hell. Here she meets – and falls head over heels in love with – the devil. Together they defy everything, even God, to stay together in this somewhat unlikely love story.
“None of the following would have happened if Rakel had not dug a flower bed between the fence and the raspberry bushes. But she had to. And that’s why it had to happen. But she didn’t know that when she put the shovel in the ground.”
Rakel is almost fifty. Fucking fifty. So what do you do when your husband leaves you and you become a house owner with children only in even-numbered weeks? Start exercising? Date? Weed the garden? For Rakel, the first options lead nowhere, while the last one goes straight to hell. And as if that weren’t enough, she meets Satan himself, a pretty cool guy, albeit a little occupationally disturbed. Join this journey from breakup to love at first sight, obsession, conflict and passion – all with a good dose of humor in classic Erlend Loe style.
Based on "Hell" (2019) by Erlend Loe.
Adapted for the stage by Agnes Scheel Melin.
This play is fully in norwegian
