Kaoroo // 23:59
His unique blend of drum and bass, rock, hip hop, and jungle—self-described as "JUNGLE PUNK"—brings a breath of fresh air to the Norwegian music scene. With an incomparable knack for melody and an infectious energy—both on stage and on record—Kaoroo is a name we are sure to hear a lot more of in the years to come.
26-year-old Kaoroo has experienced a truly meteoric rise as an artist since releasing his first tracks just over a year ago.
In 2026, he and his band have performed at festivals such as Øyafestivalen, By:Larm, and Trondheim Calling; furthermore, this autumn, they are set to appear at Vill Vill Vest, Oslo World, Sweden’s Viva Sounds, and Denmark’s Liveurope.
The music blog Disharmoni—which awarded Kaoroo’s Øya performance a perfect score—describes the live experience as follows:
“Kaoroo seizes both the stage and the audience, and doesn’t let go until it’s all over. The whole thing radiates an incredible surplus of energy and a chaotic charisma. Starting your day with Kaoroo is, quite simply, like having ten espressos thrown straight into your face.”
Kaoroo also received top marks for his concert at By:Larm—including from GAFFA, which explained its assessment this way:
“All the Ritalin in the world wouldn’t have been enough to calm Kaoroo down. Despite a soundcheck from hell, Kaoroo delivers a brand of musical chaos that even the most straight-laced industry veterans can’t resist.”
But it isn’t just on stage that Diego (his real name) and his band impress. NRK P3 has also expressed great enthusiasm for his recorded music, writing the following about the single “TAKUM IS SO COOL”:
“Wow! This is some of the most impressive and polished production I’ve heard from a Norwegian artist in a long time.” Throughout the autumn, Kaoroo will be releasing singles in between his various festival appearances, with work currently underway toward a new EP release in the spring of 2027.
