Sunday Screening: One Sings, the Other Doesn't (1977)
One woman sings, one woman mothers
France in the 1970s: a singer and a mother. One Sings, The Other Doesn't follows two women who reconnect after losing touch in their early twenties, having seen their lives take very different paths. Pauline pursues her dream of becoming a singer, while Suzanne has a child out of wedlock—an act strongly frowned upon by her family and those around her. When they meet again in their thirties, Pauline has continued her singing career, while Suzanne has left her judgmental family behind, and now works to help others in similar situations as hers. The film follows their reunion and their fight for women's rights.
