Meet Snowden

- Does surveillance make us safer?

Edward Snowden! For some it’s the name of a traitor and a danger to national security. For others it’s the name of a human rights activist willing to put his life and career on the line to ensure that the rest of us know to which extent we are being watched, tracked and surveilled.

To exactly what extent are we being watched? Is the surveillance necessary to protect us from terrorist attacks? Or are we seeing the beginning of a society where the state has total power? How can you resist a state which knows who you meet, when you meet them, what you write, what you read and when you do it?

From his asylum in Russia, Mr. Snowden will through the magic of Skype talk with Studentersamfundet in Trondheim in front of a live audience. This is your chance to be enlightened on how he came to take the most difficult choice possible, what the state surveillance actually are capable of and what the future might bring. And perhaps most importantly, what can we do to affect this situation?

This event is free of charge.

The Board of the Student Society in Trondhjem and Amnesty International region Midt invites you to Storsalen for an evening with Edward Snowden, welcome!
