By definition, porn could be considered a form of art. What's the line between art and pornography? In discussions and conversations about pornography, and the structures of the industry, it is often raised questions about gender equality, power, and even capitalist structures. Is the discussion about porn and adult film-stars too small-minded? Are we talking without really knowing? Ninja Thyberg has said in interviews regarding the film, that she wants to show the real people behind porn stereotypes. The movie also has a take on the mainstream world and our society and power structures. Pleasure is a raw and rough movie, and tells a devastating story that makes you think about the women in the industry and how they are treated. Can porn still be seen as an art form, or is it just something hurtful and destructive? Where do we draw the line? What is okay and what is not? Can you be a feminist and watch porn?

Pleasure (2021) is a film written and directed by Swedish Ninja Thyberg. It follows Bella Cherry as she arrives in Los Angeles with her dream of becoming the next great adult film actress. The film provides raw and at times brutal portrayals of the industry and the experiences behind the camera. Where do you draw the line between art and pornography? Is there a limit? The film brings up important reflections about people who may not even know if it’s artistic ambitions or pressure and problems with saying no that drive them.
