Do you like to write? Do you want to set the agenda? As a writing journalist in The Student Media you join a social and educational community that produces content about and for the students in Trondheim.

As a journalist, you’re going to write articles for Under Dusken and our online newspaper, underdusken.no. Under Dusken is Scandinavia's oldest student newspaper. You will be part of one of our many sections, and will work side by side with many committed journalists and photographers.

Journalistic experience is not a requirement, but you should be interested in writing. In addition, it is important to show that you are curious, committed and can produce good ideas. Are you one who’s constantly digging and asking for information, and doesn't give up until you find an answer? Then Under Dusken is the right place for you. We’re looking for students from different fields of studies with different backgrounds

Under Dusken is a social and inclusive environment. During the rest of the semester there will be organized social events such as cabin trips, parties, our bi-annual gala, football tournaments and much more.

Writing for Under Dusken and underdusken.no is a learning experience that’s proven to be a good introduction to the media industry for many of our volunteers. If you are interested in getting insight into how a newspaper and other media outlets works, then this is a good place to start.

In your application, we would like you to elaborate on why you have chosen to apply and what you motivation for applying is. In addition, we wish for you to tell us a little about yourself and what background you have. All applicants will be invited to an interview.

Journalist - News:

Are you engaged in what’s going on in the society, and enjoy writing? If so, we would like to welcome you to our news section as a journalist! We write short news reports, longer articles, and everything in between. Everyone has a say in what we wish to cover, and through the news section you will gain unique insights into the world of media and publishing. Some of the themes we aim to cover are local and international student politics, student life in general, education, and foreign affairs. There is no need for previous experience with newspaper production. The news section is a group where we combine learning and fun in order to gain both professional and social output.

Journalist - feature

Do you like to tell stories with an exciting angle and a living language? Feature is an important focus area for Under Dusken and the underdusken.no, and is often the front cover material. Compared to the other sections, we write longer, but fewer articles, combined with narrative photographs. We place great emphasis on portraying people, environments and moods.

There is a great variety in the topics we cover and you have great freedom to choose what to focus on. You get the opportunity to dive deep into interesting issues, portray interesting and inspiring people, write entertaining articles and perhaps reveal critiqueqworthy issues in the community. Past experience is not a requirement, the most important thing is that you have the dedication and passion for writing. We will teach you the rest in our social and friendly editorial team.

Journalist - culture

Do you want to cover ISFiT, UKA and The Student Society? Perhaps you would like to report the latest from HBO or take a deep dive into the city's graphite environment? As a cultural journalist, you work with creative, varied and challenging articles in a variety of genres. You can immerse yourself in cultural expressions such as movies, literature and art, set the agenda or temp the communities we live in, through reviews, news, reports and comments. In Student Media's most playful section, writing experience is not necessary, you learn quickly in an open and like-minded environment. Are you creative, interested in culture, engaging and writing, we want you as a cultural journalist.

Journalist - sports

Are you the kind of person who loves to watch and participate in sports? If you’re either smiling or nodding vigorously, that means you're one of us. If you enjoy watching and talking about sports, you will be able to take part in all kinds of sporting events as a sports journalist. With us, you will take a closer look at the students sport environment in Trondheim.

You will have the opportunity to create varied and engaging news content about institutions such as NTNUI, cover big sporting events such as the Student Games. You will also get the opportunity to participate in our own sports show in Radio Revolt. The sports section is a socially connected gang with a good work environment, lots of fun and internal football matches with the other journalists. Previous experience is not necessary and training will be provided. Does this sound exciting? Apply yourself!

Journalist - research and consumer

Have you ever pondered upon the lack of women in your syllabus? What would actually happen to your body if you were to consume ramen noodles only for seven days straight? And truly, what is the deal with male group behaviour, or so called “guttastemning”? By all means, do not let the title of this section intimidate you. We do not demand an academic backgroud in natural sciences as a prerequisite to write about for Space X, the latest scientific news in cancer research, or perhaps AI. There are no prior qualifications needed and all that is expected of you is genuine curiousity, an interest in writing and motivation. Technical guidance will be provided as you go along. The Research and consumer section is a small, but close-knit gang with a lot of fun to offer. If this sounds interesting, apply without hesitation!

Journalist - Music

Are you above average interested in music? Do you want to try out as a music reviewer? As a music journalist you will be given the opportunity to write about the music life in Trondheim, record and concert reviews, interviews with artists and other music news. We keep ourselves updated on what happens on everything from the local venues to festivals all around the country.

In this position you’ll work closely with the music shows at Radio Revolt, as part of the Student Media's joint music section. This is a closely knit group within the Student Media that can tempt you with a good work environment and a range of fun social events. You do not need to have previous journalistic experience in this position. This is the position for someone who really cares about music, is willing to voice their opinions, and wants to share them with other students in Trondheim.
